Physical Demands:

This position requires travel, the ability to drive a car (with a valid license), is physically demanding requiring the ability to walk unaided up and down hills and over uneven terrain; bend, stoop, reach above head; fine and gross motor skills, and work in close quarters. The employee must have normal visual acuity at near and far distance with correction and hear spoken word with correction. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English. While performing the duties of this position, employee is required to sit and work at a computer and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, touch objects, tools or controls. The employee must be able to lift or move heavy objects (up to fifty pounds).

Academic Dean

Future Generations University is conducting a search for an enterprising, knowledgeable individual to serve as Dean of its innovative graduate program in Applied Community Development. The successful candidate will believe in the University’s mission and vision and will have significant experience in an applied academic setting with an environmental, social justice, or workforce development focus. They may be from a technical or community college background. An important element of the position is leading adaptive community development to address climate change. This position is an opportunity for an energetic, committed academic administrator to expand the work of a unique university and build gateways for communities to achieve just and lasting change.

Position Specifics and Requirements

The Academic Dean is the chief academic officer reporting directly to the President and is responsible for administrative management of the graduate programs. The Academic Dean has responsibility for academic leadership, hiring, supervision, and guidance of the faculty, oversees student recruitment and matriculation, program development, implementation, and assessment. Additionally, the Academic Dean assists with university advancement when requested.

Educational requirements for the position include a doctoral degree in a subject area related to higher education programming or sustainable development. Experience and a proven track record in academic and administrative leadership is required.

Knowledge of and/or experience in community development is strongly preferred.

Due to Future Generations University’s presence worldwide, significant travel is required.

Position Specifics

Academic Administration

  • Sustain processes and standards expected for an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Student recruitment
  • Recruit faculty and successfully manage faculty responsibilities
  • Assess and guide the graduate school in meeting its responsibilities as a learning organization
  • Support development of scholarships

Academic Program Development

  • Expand educational programming, approach, and methodology
  • Revise and expand curriculum and pedagogy for greater effectiveness
  • Develop more effective assessment methods for student learning, faculty performance, and applied learning labs
  • Develop specialized training courses that flow from the mission

New Initiatives

  • Work with President, consultants, and University team to implement PhD program
  • Systematize research programs
  • Develop a strong publications program

Executive Assistant

We are looking for candidates with the following:

Position Specifics and Requirements

The Executive Assistant will be expected to meet both internally set and external deadlines for work assigned.

  • Manages the daily operations of the President’s office including scheduling, meetings management, recordkeeping, interfacing with constituents, and ensuring the smooth operations of the executive office.
  • Provides administrative support during the President’s Cabinet meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Assists the President with fundraising, donor development, reporting, and grants development – writing, proofreading, and editing.
  • Provides research as needed.
  • Works with other administrative staff to ensure that the office of the president operates smoothly when taking vacation or other time away; works with administrative staff to ensure that phones are always covered.
  • Obtain and maintain expertise on and administer the J-1 VISA process, serving as the state department approved Alternative Responsible Officer, if requested
  • Four years work experience working with office equipment, like computers, printers, copiers, binding machines, etc.
  • Four years’ experience with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint or other similar office software such as Google
  • Serves as Secretary to the Board of Trustees and provides administrative support, when needed to the Chair of the Board, upon request.
  • Excellent Phone, Organization & Customer Service Skills required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a commitment to complete tasks and follow-through.
  • Must be energetic, positive, well-organized, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment and on a team.
  • Reliable/dependable hard worker with a “can do” attitude that is eager to learn.
  • Must have and maintain a Valid Driver’s License that authorizes driving within the United States
  • Ability to attend and assist in hosting events presented by the President and/or the University.

The successful candidate will be required to work regular hours Monday through Friday in our headquarters’ office (Franklin, WV) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with an occasional need to work irregular hours and/or weekends.

Salary and Application Instructions

The salary range for this position is $35K-42K per year. Actual salary will be commensurate with the experience, skills and qualifications that the candidate brings to the position.
